Boann is 30th winner for Blue Point

Juvenile filly makes virtually all to win at Southwell

Blue Point’s fantastic start at stud continued on Monday, 28 August as his juvenile daughter Boann became his 30th individual winner, following a decisive two and a quarter length win at Southwell to gain a well-deserved maiden victory on her third start.

Trained by Ollie Sangster, Boann jumped well and was soon taken to the front where she comfortably led throughout the race. Striding out well under Jack Mitchell, the filly found plenty inside the final furlong to draw clear from the field and win the five-furlong novice contest unchallenged.

Bred in Ireland by Cooneen Stud, Boann was a 50,000gns Tattersalls October Book 1 yearling purchase. She is the second foal out of the winning mare Paradwys (Exceed And Excel), herself a half-sister to Listed winner Many Colours, who is the dam of G1 heroine Mother Earth, G2 Italian winner Night Colours and G3-scorer Ocean Jewel.

Leading first season sire Blue Point is enjoying a successful start to his stud career. From his 30 individual winners, he is the sire Royal Ascot Listed winner Big Evs, who also landed the G3 Molecomb Stakes at Goodwood, and Listed winners Rosallion, the four-length winner of the Pat Eddery Stakes and Action Point, successful in the Rose Bowl Stakes at Newbury.
