Godolphin homebred Custom added an important Stakes victory to her record at Caulfield on Saturday, 29 August, leading home stablemate Photograph in the G3 Courtza Stakes (1,200m).
The progressive four-year-old mare travelled strongly for Ethan Brown before taking control in the straight, drawing clear to defeat the Blue Point mare Photograph by 1.75 lengths.
The victory was Custom’s third from 13 starts and her first at Stakes level, having previously been Stakes-placed as a two-year-old.
“She had a lovely ride and she’s gone back to her best today,” trainer Ciaron Maher said.
“We could have gone for a ratings race or we could have rolled the dice here in the Stakes race. It’s nice to get the Stakes for a filly like her.”
Maher indicated Custom would continue to be given her chance through the spring, with spacing between runs proving key to getting the best from the mare.
By Street Boss, Custom is out of the unraced Dubawi mare Wedding Veil, a three-quarter sister to Saba Desert and daughter of Champion Irish filly Gossamer. The family also includes multiple G1 winner and successful sire Barathea.
Custom becomes the 34th Australasian Stakes winner for Street Boss, continuing another strong season for the proven son of Street Cry following the top-level success of Tempted and Pericles.
Street Boss stands at Darley’s Northwood Park in Victoria for $66,000 inc. GST. His influence on the Darley roster continues through his G1-winning son Tentyris, who joins Kelvinside in 2026 following victories in the G1 Lightning Stakes and G1 Coolmore Stud Stakes.
