Stretan Angel bounced back to her brilliant best when she dashed clear in the home straight to easily win the Listed Alinghi Stakes over 1,100m at Caulfield on Saturday, 18 October.
A winner of the Listed Dequetteville Stakes (,100m at Morphettville and the G2 Danehill Stakes 1,200m at Flemington in 2023, Stretan Angel has always exuded ability but had been unplaced in three of her previous four starts before Saturday
.
Jockey Lachlan Neindorf allowed the five-year-old mare to settle early and Stretan Angel reproduced her best to record her third win, with eight placings, from 22 starts for prize-money earnings of $1,270,370.
Soft Love and New York Lustre filled the placings but couldn’t match the winner’s finishing burst.
Stretan Angel was bred by G. Briscoe and offered by Raheen Stud on the Darling Downs, Queensland at the 2022 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
Pakenham trainer Phillip Stokes linked with Connolly Bloodstock to buy her for $64,000.
The mare, out of Sretan, has a yearling full-brother and her dam revisited Harry Angel – who now has 236 winners worldwide of 569 races – last November.
Twenty of the shuttle stallion’s progeny – including War Machine, Fair Angelica, Watchme Win and Arkansaw Kid – have won at Stakes level since 13 September.
Harry Angel currently stands at Darley’s Kelvinside property in the NSW Hunter Valley for a service fee of $66,000, GST inclusive.
