Treasury Devil remains unbeaten

Son of the World Champion three-year-old Bernardini records another easy victory

Making his second appearance at the races, the John Gosden-trained Treasury Devil (Bernardini) worked home too well over the 1400m at Sandown to record a two-and-a-half length victory over Godolphin’s Iffraaji colt Introvert.

Out of the G1-winning Nureyev mare Crystal Music, Treasury Devil was bred by Watership Downs Stud and now races in the colours of the stud’s owner Lord Lloyd Webber. A half-brother to the Stakes-performing Green Desert filly Crystany, Treasury Devil went through the ring for US$1 million at last year’s Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Sale.

Holding an entry to the upcoming G1 Racing Post Trophy over a mile at Newbury, a race won a few years back by Darley stallion Authorized, the colt looks capable of measuring up to Stakes class at his next few starts based on his performances to date.

The winner of the G1 Preakness, G1 Travers and G1 Jockey Club Gold Cup, Bernardini is the sire of five individual winners so far including the G3 winner Theyskens’ Theory, G1 colt Stay Thirsty and G3 filly A Z Warrior.

Bernardini’s first southern hemisphere crop of yearlings will go through the sales ring in 2011 and will be highlighted by colts out of G1 winners Danni Martine, Kenbelle, Mon Mekki and Polar Success, as well as a filly from G1 VRC Oaks winner Bulla Borghese.

Bernardini will cover his third book of mares this season at Darley Kelvinside at a fee of $38,500 including GST.
