Top Tier Lass has top-tier sire

Saratoga winner is Street Boss’ 6th of 2012

The first crop by multiple G1 winner Street Boss have come out winning around the world; first in Europe, then in Canada and then the latest two in the U.S.  No other first-crop sire has more winners thus far in 2012 than Street Boss. And the most impressive of these might just have been seen July 30 at Saratoga.

The Todd Pletcher-trained Top Tier Lass raced in mid pack early in the five and one-half furlong turf event but nearing the turn jockey John Velazquez let her out a notch which quickly grew to lengths as they entered the stretch. As she approached the wire, Top Tier Lass’ advantage had grown to seven widening lengths in just her first career start.

Bred by Sun Valley Farm in Kentucky, Top Tier Lass is out of the King of Kings mare Top Tier, a half-sister to Stakes winners Sand Ridge and Dootsie. This is also the family of champion grass horse Perfect Soul and G1 winner Flashy Bull.

Street Boss’ five other runners this year include his undefeated stakes-winning son Bosco and daughter Sheistheboss who placed in the Prix Six Perfections at Deauville on July 28th. Street Boss is also the leading freshman sire of 2012 by sales average in North America. His two-year-old graduates this year include the US$430,000 top-priced filly and the US$825,000 second highest-priced colt.

Street Boss, by Street Cry, will stand the forthcoming breeding season at Darley's Victorian property Northwood Park at a fee of $11,000 (inc. GST).
