Too Darn Hot’s progressive mare Hot And High claims G3 Asian Beau

Too Darn Hot’s daughter Hot And High extended her record to eight wins from nine starts with a third Black-Type success in the G3 Asian Beau Stakes at Ascot on Saturday.

Progressive mare Hot And High added the G3 Asian Beau Stakes to her record, with the daughter of Too Darn Hot making it eight wins from just nine starts with her third Black-Type victory at Ascot on Saturday, October 31.

Already the winner of the Listed Lee-Steere Stakes and the Listed Belmont Guineas as a three-year-old, Hot And High resumed with a win in the Listed Crawford Stakes a fortnight ago and she never really looked in doubt again in the Asian Beau.

Given a calm ride by jockey Chris Parnham, who rode Hot And High to win her maiden on debut 12 months ago, the mare was held up behind the leaders but once eased off the fence into the clear she quickened well to put the 1,400m race in her keeping.

She defeated Zipaway by more than half a length with Bonjoy finishing third.

The continued rise in grade shapes well for Hot And High contesting Perth’s feature races such as the G1 Railway Stakes during the Pinnacles carnival in the coming weeks.

Bred and raced by Cape Falls Thoroughbreds, the Dion Luciani-trained Hot And High is out of Perth-winning two-year-old Snitzel mare High Conviction.

Star shuttle stallion Too Darn Hot is the sire of 40 individual Stakes winners, eight of whom have won at G1 level.

Among his 18 Southern Hemisphere-bred Stakes winners are Broadsiding and Tropicus, both of which are at stud in the Hunter Valley, and this season’s G2-winning three-year-old filly Bangkok Hottie.

Too Darn Hot stands at Kelvinside at a fee of $275,000 (inc GST).
