Third Stakes victory for Illuminates

Daughter of Strategic runs out the impressive winner of the Civic Stakes at Rosehill

Illuminates, a five-year-old daughter of Darley stallion Strategic, notched her second Stakes win of the season and third of her career on Saturday, coming with a fantastic late run to land the 1400m Civic Stakes at Rosehill.

This was the tenth victory for Gerry Harvey’s homebred, who beat all bar Typhoon Tracy home in this year’s G1 Queen Of The Turf Stakes and has now earned over $800,000.

Illuminates is out of the Danzero mare Dazzle Light, herself a daughter of G1 winner Travel Light.

Strategic has sired 21 individual Stakes winners to date, including G1-winning Champion two-year-old Meurice and fellow G1 winners Mistegic and Strategic News. He stands at Northwood Park at a fee of $16,500 including GST.
