Thermosphere confirms her place as Exosphere’s best in G2 Manifold Stakes

Classy filly a possible G1 VRC Oaks candidate following Flemington win

A distinct edge in class and ability carried Thermosphere to the second Stakes win of her career in the G2 Edward Manifold Stakes at Flemington on Saturday, 3 October.

In a performance that confirmed her position as the best seen to date by her sire Exosphere, Thermosphere lade light work of her opposition after being obliged to race wide for the 1,600m trip.

Thermosphere made a solid impression as a juvenile, winning the G3 Magic Night Stakes in Sydney and proved far too good, beating Starelle by a long neck.

She made her three-year-old debut with an encouraging second but was well beaten at her next two starts before being sent to Melbourne.

The Manifold is traditionally a lead-up to the G1 VRC Oaks and Thermosphere’s latest effort suggest she will now be a classic candidate.

The filly is out of the Stakes-winning Canny Lad mare Glows, one of six winners from her dam Lustre.

Exosphere, the star three-year-old of his generation, is standing the current southern hemisphere breeding season at Kelvinside at a fee of $16,500 including GST.
