Thawaabet becomes the eighth

Nadeem filly takes her sire to the top of the first-season sire leader board

By a Champion, out of a Champion, and a Champion himself - all the signs are positive for Nadeem to become the Champion first-season sire of his year and the victory of two-year-old filly Thawaabet at Seymour on June 16 further enhanced this.

Trained by David Hayes and owned/bred by Shadwell Australia, the same connections of Nadeem himself, the lightly raced filly stepped away well from the gates and settled in handy position throughout. Getting up to win the race by a nose, the filly has now recorded a win and two places from four career starts. Appreciating the step up in trip this time out, the filly races as though she will get over more ground, which is also indicative of her pedigree.

Out of the Zabeel mare Tahtheeb, Thawaabet comes from the family of Champion two and three-year-old New Zealand filly Phillipa Rush as well as G1 winner Emerald and G3 winners Tuxedo Moon and Jennifer Rush.

Standing the forthcoming breeding season at Darley Kelvinside at a fee of $22,000 (inc GST), Nadeem is already the sire of multiple G3-winning filly Triple Asset, New Zealand Stakes-performer The Aftershock and impressive winners Irish Times, Specter, Dark Angel, Crucial and Hundred Cube.
