Thatagirl wins for Henny Hughes

Daughter of World Champion Sprinter becomes his 19th individual winner

With history on his side as the only three-year-old to ever win the G1 Vosburgh and the G1 King’s Bishop Stakes, Henny Hughes goes into the upcoming 2011 Magic Millions Premier yearling sale as one of the stallions to watch.

The World Champion Sprinter was represented by his 19th individual winner on December 17, when the Gary Contessa-trained Thatagirl broke her maiden scoring over 1200m at Aqueduct, New York.

Bred and owned by Edward Lipton, the two-year-old filly is out the Stakes-winning Peaks And Valleys mare Miss Bridget Jones and comes from the family of G1 winners Spend A Buck, Hula Angel and Ice Box.

With eight yearlings catalogued to represent Henny Hughes at the first yearling sale of the year, the highlight lot could be 536, a chestnut half-sister to the G1-winning Dubawi two-year-old Happy Archer and the Listed-winning Shamardal three-year-old filly Femina Fashion.

Another lot which is sure to create plenty of interest is 233, a chestnut colt out of the Stakes-performed Black Zephyr mare Huntington Girl. The colt is a half-brother to the multiple Stakes-winning Brave Warrior mare Dynamic Love and the Stakes-winning two-year-old filly Key Bar Nights.

Henny Hughes is one of six Darley stallions that will have their first southern hemisphere bred crop of yearlings represented at the upcoming sales.
