Tempted completes G1 treble for Street Boss

Another major sprint success for the Darley sire this autumn

Tempted delivered at the highest level when capturing the G1 Surround Stakes at Royal Randwick on Saturday, 28 February, becoming the third individual G1 winner this season for Street Boss.

Second-up from a spell following her win in the G3 Eskimo Prince Stakes, the three-year-old settled off the speed under Chad Schofield before surging late to defeat Savvy Hallie by a long head, with Ole Dancer 1.7 lengths away in third. She stopped the clock at a sharp 1:22.07 on a Soft 6 surface.

Now trained by Ciaron Maher, Tempted was recording her first G1 success and her fourth Stakes victory, continuing a standout campaign for her sire.

Her success follows G1 victories this season by Tentyris (Lightning Stakes) and Pericles (Futurity Stakes), giving Street Boss a G1 treble in 2025/26 - a feat unmatched by any other stallion in Australia this season.

“He’s been a profound influence who continues to deliver,” said Godolphin Australia racing and bloodstock manager Jason Walsh.

“He’s hugely important for our organisation and we are delighted that we are adding new stallions to the barn which reflect his contribution to, not only that side of the business, but hopefully they’ll be the dams of our next stallions as well.

“His contribution can’t be overstated and his legacy will remain in our pedigrees for a very long time to come.

“As far as stallions go, he’s had to do it the hard way.

“In light of receiving our better mares, he’s really hit the ball out of the park on every occasion.

“A horse of Tentyris’s quality and this filly, they are two of the best sprinters in the country and his influence is obvious.”

Street Boss, also the sire of nine-time G1 winner Anamoe, has now produced 1,066 winners of 3,238 races worldwide, including 88 individual Stakes winners of 181 Black-Type races.

Commercial demand remains strong, with yearlings selling to NZ$475,000 at Karaka, and seven lots catalogued for the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale (1–3 March) in Melbourne.
