Son of Kermadec, Lim’s Kosciuszko shows versatility with second Stakes victory in Singapore

Son of Kermadec returns after Singapore Derby triumph to win Lion City Cup

Singapore Derby winner Lim’s Kosciuszko showed his speed, versatility and class to score his second Stakes victory in the S$300,000 Lion City Cup over 1,200m at Kranji racecourse on Sunday, 14 August.

Just four weeks after winning the Listed Derby (1,800m) at the same track to record his first Black-Type success, the five-year-old son of Kermadec sprinted hard for jockey Chin Chuen Wong to run down King Arthur, with Golden Monkey finishing well for third in the feature race.

Bred by world-class breeders the Taylor family of Trelawney Stud, Lim's Kosciuszko is the first foal out of Keeper mare Jacquetta, winner of the Listed Welcome Stakes, as well as a G2 placegetter. Prepared by former Australian trainer Dan Meagher, Lim’s Kosciuszko took his impressive record to 10 wins and two placings from just 13 starts and gave Kermadec his tenth Stakes race success.

Kermadec was a dual G1 winner on the track and is also the sire of four-time G1 winner Montefilia and 2021 G1 VRC Oaks heroine Willowy.

Kermadec geldings Gundec (Listed Bendigo Guineas) and the emerging Tuvalu (Listed Winter Championship Final) both added Black Type to their pedigree pages last season.

Kermadec will stand this breeding season at Darley’s Northwood Park stud in Victoria for a service fee of $16,500, GST inclusive.
