Second Stakes victory for Paene Magnus

Son of Teofilo wins the Listed Carlingford Stakes for the second time

Teofilo's four-year-old son Paene Magnus recorded his second victory at Stakes level on Dundalk's Friday evening card when taking the Listed Carlingford Stakes for the second successive year. Sent to the front from the start, he was taken on at the top of the straight, but responding very gamely for pressure, he battled back for a head victory.

Bred and trained by Jim Bolger, Paene Magnus is out of the Danehill mare Luminaria, a daughter of Stakes winner Smaoineamh and a close relative of another 2013 Stakes-performer by Teofilo in Tobann.

Paene Magnus becomes Teofilo's 24th Stakes performer of 2013 with seven Group winners amongst this number. He is responsible for three top-flight winners; Trading Leather in the Irish Derby; Havana Gold, winner of G1 mile contest in France and Classic winning filly Voleuse de Coeurs, who heads to the Melbourne Cup at the start of November. Teofilo stands at Kelvinside, NSW for $22,000 inc GST.
