Seachange makes it six

Daughter of Cape Cross lands G1 Telegraph Handicap

Seachange, a five-year-old daughter of Darley stallion Cape Cross, stormed to an outstanding sixth victory at the highest level on 19 January when posting a near world record time for six furlongs to take the G1 Telegraph Handicap at Trentham, New Zealand.

Settled on the rail in third position, Seachange flew to the front coming into the home straight and unleashing a devastating burst of speed, flew clear of her rivals to win by three-and-a-half lengths.

Owned breeder Dick Karreman said after the race, “It's an incredible feeling to be the owner of a horse like this.”

"Words cannot really describe how one feels with a horse like Seachange."

Her next target will be the G1 Waikato Sprint, run over seven furlongs at Te Rapa on 9 February, with her ultimate target being the $3 million Dubai Duty Free, run on Dubai World Cup day at Nad Al Sheba.

Cape Cross, who is also sire of another five G1 winners in Gaze, Kindacross, Mikki Street, Able One and of course, the unforgettable Ouija Board, stands at Kildangan Stud at a fee of €50,000 October 1st Special live foal
