A perfect seasonal debut for Duporth

Red Ransom colt Duporth made his seasonal debut a successful one at Rosehill on Saturday in the 1100m G3 San Domenico Stakes, at the same time breaking his maiden at the third time of asking.

He was highly tried in two starts as a juvenile, finishing fourth in the G2 Pago Pago Stakes and fifth in the G1 Sires' Produce Stakes, being beaten just over tw lengths by Sebring.

The Anthony Cummings-trained colt now has an ambitious plan mapped out, taking in the G3 Up And Coming Stakes followed by the A$1 Million Golden Rose and the Caulfield Guineas.

Bred by Mr P & Mrs W Moran, he is a half-brother to G1 winner Excites, out of the G2 winning mare, Staging.

The success of Red Ransom continued in the northern hemisphere when his juvenile filly Misdaqeya gained black type when running second in the G3 Sweet Solera Stakes at Newmarket.

Another Darley stallion on the mark on Saturday was freshman sire Refuse To Bend, when his filly Favourite Girl won for the second time at Haydock. To date, he has sired six individual winners including the well-regarded Courageous.
