New Stakes winner for Shamardal

Shamillion lands the Australia Post Stakes; two Group placings for Lonhro

Shamardal two-year-old Shamillion broke his maiden in fine style when winning the Listed Australia Post Stakes over 1400m at Eagle Farm.

Bred by Mr G J Fischl, he is the first foal of the dual-winning Redoute’s Choice mare One In A Million.

Shamillion, who was making just his third start having finished runner-up on his first two racecourse outings, continues an excellent year for his young sire, who is also responsible for the dual French Classic winner Lope De Vega, who is currently ranked among the top five horses in the world. In Australia, Shamardal's best runners include Faint Perfume, Shamoline Warrior, Happy Hippy and Marquardt.

Also in action in Brisbane was Beaded, a four-year-old daughter of Lonhro, who took third in the G1 Winter Stakes. The mare had also finished in the same position in the G1 All Aged Stakes in April and won the G3 BTC Sprint on 22 May.

Pinwheel was another of Lonhro's starters at Eagle Farm and he finished runner-up in the G3 W.J. Healy Stakes. Like Beaded, he was bred by Woodlands Stud, and he had previously recorded black type at Canterbury in January.
