New Stakes winner for Elusive Quality

Juvenile filly Roan Inish breaks her maiden in the Princess Elizabeth Stakes at Woodbine

Roan Inish, a two-year-old daughter of Elusive Quality, broke her maiden in fine style on October 31, winning the one-and-one-sixteenth mile Princess Elizabeth Stakes at Woodbine.

Despite missing the break, Roan Inish was settled in mid-division on the rail under David Moran. Making steady progress heading down the straight, she accelerated impressively in the closing stages to sweep past long-time leader Resentless and win by a length.

Owned and bred by Robert J Costigan and now trained by his daughter Carolyn (who graduated from the Darley Flying Start course in 2007), Roan Inish is out of the G2 winner Inish Glora.

Elusive Quality has now sired 13 individual Stakes winners this year, including the record-breaking G1 winner Quality Road and G3-winning juvenile Elusive Pimpernel – last seen finishing second in the G1 Racing Post Trophy in Great Britain. Elusive Quality’s fee for 2010 is $75,000 Stands and Nurses.
