Mrs McDougal goes gate-to-wire to win the G3 Noble Damsel Stakes

Filly becomes fourth Stakes winner of the day for sire Medaglia d’Oro

Mrs McDougal took the lead at the start and never looked back as she rolled to a two-length victory in the G3 Noble Damsel Stakes at Belmont Park September 24.

The four-year-old filly provided sire Medaglia d’Oro with his fourth Stakes winner of the day. Veladero got things started for his sire with a victory in the G3 Gloaming Stakes in Australia. In North America, in addition to Mrs McDougal, Medaglia d’Oro found success with Cyrus Alexander in the PA Derby Champion Stakes and Songbird in the G1 Cotillion.

Bred in Kentucky by Aaron U. and Marie Jones, Mrs McDougal was purchased for $450,000 at the Keeneland September Yearling sale in 2013. She is out of the Distorted Humor mare, Distorted Passion, a multiple Stakes winner that was also multiple G2-placed.

Medaglia d'Oro has earned a spot among North American's leading sires once again in 2016 with undefeated, seven-time G1 winner and Eclipse Champion Songbird proudly carrying her sire’s banner in style. Three-year-old son Astern proved himself the best of his age group in Australia on September 10th with a resounding victory in the G1 Golden Rose. He has now sired a total of 15 G1 winners around the world.

Medaglia d’Oro stands at Kelvinside for a fee of $110,000 inc GST.
