Gold Street shines in Smarty Jones Stakes at Oaklawn Park

Street Boss colt notches his second straight Stakes win

Gold Street took the lead right out of the starting gate and never looked back on his way to an impressive two-and-a-half-length victory in the Listed Smarty Jones Stakes at Oaklawn Park Jan. 24.

It was the second consecutive Stakes victory for the three-year-old son of Street Boss. He captured the six-furlong Sugar Bowl Stakes at Fair Grounds in December. Gold Street’s win in the eight-furlong Smarty Jones improved his record to three wins and two second-place finishes in six starts.

Gold Street was bred in Kentucky by Erich Brehm and races for Mike McCarty. He is out of the Stakes-placed mare, Morakami, and is a half-brother to Graded Stakes-placed performer Oh Marvelous Me. Gold Street’s second dam, Astrid, was a multiple Stakes winner who also produced Love Of Money, winner of the G2 Pennsylvania Derby.

Street Boss is the sire of 39 Stakes winners. In 2019, Street Boss sired the Stakes winners Totally Boss (G3 Runhappy Turf Sprint, Kentucky Downs Preview Turf Sprint), Social Paranoia (Dueling Grounds Derby), Fair Maiden (Catch A Glimpse Stakes), Hanseatic (Listed Merson Cooper Stakes in Aust.) and Lady Alida (In the Breeze Stakes, Treasure Coast Stakes).

Street Boss will stand the 2020 breeding season at Jonabell Farm in Kentucky for $20,000, stands and nurses.
