Godolphin stars' legacy continues at stud

With record prize money and bonuses on offer in the Australian racing industry, it’s hardly surprising that the influence of shuttle stallions has never been greater

Darley in Australia will stand 18 stallions in 2022, with former Godolphin Champions Pinatubo (Shamardal) and Victor Ludorum (Shamardal), standing their first southern hemisphere season at stud. They will also be joined by the five-time G1-winning son of Kingman, Palace Pier.

Pinatubo, who needs little introduction, was Europe’s Champion Two-Year-Old, winning six straight - including the G1 Darley Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket. The star colt was three-time G1 winner for trainer Charlie Appleby and the Godolphin UK racing team.

Victor Ludorum, a G1 winner at two and three for the French maestro André Fabre and the Godolphin racing team, could be the hidden jewel on the Darley roster with his magnificent bloodlines. The stallion is an inbred three-by-three cross to Helen Street - the dam of Winx’s sire and Anamoe’s grandsire Street Cry.
