Gingerbread Man takes the Singapore Guineas

Shamardal colt wins all three legs of the Singapore Three-Year-Old Challenge

Last seasons top juvenile in Singapore, Gingerbread Man (Shamardal) cemented himself as the outstanding performer of his generation when landing the third and final leg of the Singapore Three-Year-Old Challenge, the Listed Singapore Guineas over 1600m.

Always at the front in this local G1 contest, the heavily supported favourite never saw another rival to win cosily by one-and-a-half lengths over Commands gelding Clear For Action.

The two previous legs, both run at Kranji, were the 1200m Singapore 3yo Sprint and the 1400m Singapore Three-Year-Old Classic and Gingerbread Man now holds the enviable record of eight wins in an eleven race career.

Bred in Australia by Mr R Harvey, he is the second foal and second winner from the Hurricane Sky dam Quaffle, herself a half-sister to Stakes winner Golden Snitch and a granddaughter of G1 winner Spyglass. Quaffle also has a yearling colt and filly foal by top Darley stallion Bernardini and is being offered for sale at the upcoming Magic Millions Broodmare sale in foal to Lonhro.

Sire of four G1 winners globally, Shamardal sired a mammoth five Group winning juveniles last season in Europe, a figure un-matched by any stallion in the Northern Hemisphere. In the southern hemisphere this season Shamardal has sired six individual Stakes winners which includes Captain Sonador, Happy Hippy, Premardal and Marquardt.
