G1 ambitions for Too Darn Hot’s stakes-winning WA daughter

A third stakes victory for Hot And High sets daughter of Too Darn Hot up for lofty campaign goals

Too Darn Hot’s Western Australian-based daughter Hot And High remains on course for the G1 Railway Stakes later in the Perth carnival after returning to the track an impressive winner of the Listed RS Crawford Stakes (1,200m) at Ascot on Saturday.

Having her first start of her four-year-old season, the Dion Luciani-trained mare easily extended her impressive record, which now stands at seven wins from eight starts.

Jockey Chris Parnham took the spot behind the early leader Cessation and was given a clear passage when that horse rolled off on straightening.

It took Hot And High a few strides to build her speed, but she surged through to claim the lead inside the final 200 metres and held on to win by just over half a length from Awesome Boy, with Playin’It Sweet in third.

With her third stakes win secured - she had earlier won the Listed Lee-Steere Classic (1,400m) and the Listed Belmont Guineas (1,600m) – Luciani will set her on the path to the Railway Stakes (1,600m) on November 21.

Hot And High is one of 39 stakes winners for Too Darn Hot, with 19 of those coming in Australia, where he is standing at $275,000 in 2026 at Darley Kelvinside.
