Fourth Australian-bred winner for Poet's Voice

Larrikin has the last laugh at Geelong

Poet’s Voice recorded his fourth Australian-bred winner with his two-year-old son Larrikin scoring a narrow but impressive win at Geelong, 22 July.

After settling midfield in the early stages, Larrikin came to the centre of the track on straightening. In a driving finish the Poet’s Voice colt prevailed by a head and provided young trainer Brian McGrath with the first winner of his career.

Bred by Brian’s father Jim McGrath, Larrikin is the third foal and first winner for unplaced Dalakhani mare Red Margarita.

Poet’s Voice’s first Australian-bred crop is headlined by the Peter and Paul Snowden-trained Stakes-winning filly My Country who is G1 bound in the spring, while he also boasts Stakes winners Poeta Diletto, Voice Of Love and Whitman from his first northern hemisphere crop.

Poet’s Voice will stand the coming breeding season at Kelvinside at a fee of $11,000 inc. GST.
