First southern hemisphere Stakes winner for Ad Valorem

Uate prevails in a photo finish to take the G3 Skyline Stakes at Warwick Farm

Danzig’s G1-winning son Ad Valorem has begun his southern hemisphere career in fine fashion recording his first Stakes winner on March 12.

Settling behind the hot pace set upfront, the Kris Lee-trained two-year-old colt Uate kept his unbeaten record intact, winning the G3 Skyline Stakes over 1200m at Warwick Farm by a nose, defeating the Gerald Ryan-trained Hot Snitzel.

After the race Uate's jockey Nash Rawiller stated, “He’s a promising horse. He is really going places I believe”

“I think when he can get to 1400m, ridden cold in a fast run race you’ll see how good he is.”

Bred by Mr PR Clarke of Victoria, Uate is out of the winning Over mare Long Walk, who has had two to the races, both winners. From the family of G3 winner Cannibal King, the mares third foal is by Darley’s G2-winning first-season sire Shaft, whose first-crop of yearlings are selling at the moment, making up to $170,000 in the ring.

Ad Valorem has recorded two winners from seven starters in the southern hemisphere, while in the northern hemisphere his performers included Stakes winner Samaden, Stakes performer Rigolletto and the three-time winners Alabama Song and Revine.
