Ellamira shines in Golden Gate Debutante

Two-year-old daughter of Street Boss is successful in her Stakes debut

Ellamira took the lead in the stretch and gamely held off the late charge of Code Ribbon to win the Golden Gate Debutante by a head at Golden Gate Fields Nov. 26.

The two-year-old daughter of Street Boss, who fittingly was making her Stakes debut in the Debutante, improved her record to two wins and a second-place finish in just four career starts.

Ellamira raced in third, two lengths behind the dueling pacesetters Shoppingforpharoah and Royal O’Haigain, through the initial stages of the six-furlong contest. As that pair began to tire on the far turn, as Ellamira swept up to challenge them for the lead. The chestnut filly quickly took command, then gamely held off the late bid of Code Ribbon to get the victory.

Bred in California by her owner, Cole Ranch Partners, Ellamira is out of Tuesdays With P, a winning daughter of Ghostzapper. Tuesdays With P is a half-sister to Scherzinger, who won the G2 Santa Monica and was third in both the G1 Humana Distaff and G1 Vanity Handicap. Another half-sister, Bambolina, is the dam of Kitten’s Roar, winner of the G2 Goldikova Stakes and placed in the G1 E.P. Taylor Stakes. The female family also boasts 2021 Graded Stakes winner Army Wife, winner of the G2 Black-Eyed Susan Stakes and G3 Iowa Oaks.

Ellamira is the 10th North American Stakes winner this year for Street Boss. Some of the stallion’s other Stakes winners this year include Lady War Machine (Alywow Stakes); New Boss (Pea Patch Overnight Stakes, Allen ‘Black Cat’ Lecombe Memorial Stakes and Lady Edith (Mamzelle Stakes). In Australia, Street Boss is represented by the outstanding three-year-old colt Anamoe, winner of the G1 Caulfield Guineas and Elite Street, a prior G1 winner who recently captured the G3 Prince of Wales Stakes.

Street Boss will stand the 2022 breeding season at Jonabell Farm in Kentucky for $15,000, stands and nurses.
