Commands records further Black type success

Royal Commands becomes the fourth individual Black type winner for her sire this season

Commands has made an impressive start to the current racing season and on 13 October he sired his fourth individual Black type winner of the new campaign.

Settling towards the rear of the field, the Matthew Ellerton and Simon Zahra-trained Royal Commands accelerated down the home straight to record an impressive long neck victory in the Listed Carsales Classic, defeating Tiger Hill mare Our Tigress, with the multiple Stakes winner Lady Lynette a further length-and-a-quarter back in third.

Out of the winning Zabeel mare Princess Renee, Royal Commands was bred by Parsons Creek Farm and was purchased from the 2008 Easter yearling sale by Barry Griffiths.

A prolific sire of winners, Commands ended the 2009/10 racing season having recorded more individual winners than any other sire, and has started the current season in fine form with 36 individual winners. The sire of six G1 winners including Erewhon, Skilled and Purple, Commands has sired four individual Stakes winner so far this season, which is equal to that of barn mate Lonhro, with no other stallion having sired more.

Earlier in the day, Command's paternal half-brother and fellow Darley stallion Exceed And Excel was represented by his 30th southern hemisphere Stakes performer when two-year-old filly Exceedingly Regal finished third in the Listed Debutants Stakes.

Both Commands and Exceed And Excel are standing the current breeding season at Darley Kelvinisde at a fee of $66,000 including GST.
