Bar Of Gold shines on an overcast day, wins the Empire Distaff Handicap

Daughter of Medaglia d’Oro splashes through the slop to record an eighteen-length victory at Belmont Park

Bar Of Gold bulled her way between rivals, took command on the far turn and never looked back as she sailed to an eighteen-length victory in the Empire Distaff Handicap at Belmont Park.

Sent off as the even-money favorite, the four-year-old daughter of Medaglia d’Oro relished the off going, skipping over the sloppy surface to win under a hand-ride.

Bar Of Gold was bred in New York and races as a homebred for Chester and Mary Broman Sr. She is out of the Lemon Drop Kid mare, Khancord Kid, winner of the G3 Herecomesthebride Stakes. Bar Of Gold’s second dam is Confidently, a full-sister to Stakes winner Yankee Gentleman.

Medaglia d'Oro has earned a spot among North American's leading sires once again in 2016 with undefeated, seven-time G1 winner and Eclipse Champion Songbird proudly carrying her sire’s banner in style. Three-year-old son Astern proved himself the best of his age group in Australia on September 10th with a resounding victory in the G1 Golden Rose. He has now sired a total of 15 G1 winners around the world.

Medaglia d’Oro stands at Kelvinside for a fee of $110,000 inc GST.
