As the Champion two-year-old colt of his year with a victory over Miss Finland and Wonderful World in the G1 Blue Diamond, Nadeem has also had a great start to his yearling sales. With his first-crop leading the way at the Inglis Easter yearling sales of their year, his second-crop of yearlings, which sold this year, clearly out-performed his first.
With the likes of Lee Freedman, Blue Sky Thoroughbreds, J. B. Cummings, Robbie Griffiths, Peter Moody, Shadwell Australia, Paul Moroney, Steve Brem, Neville Parnham and Tim Martin purchasing yearlings from Nadeem’s first-crop, you know that all of these highly respected judges can’t be wrong.
As the race for Champions First-Season Sire honours is on in earnest, as we take a look at Nadeem's career to date, it is noted that he is in the prime position to take be awarded that accolade.
With eight individual two-year-old winners to date including the two-time G3-winning filly Triple Asset, Nadeem’s record so far is pretty impressive. Although a G1 winner at two, it was always indicated that his connections felt that Nadeem was going to be much better at three. Out of the G1 New Zealand Oaks winner Candide and a half-sister to the G1 Australasian Oaks winner Marju Snip, Nadeem’s pedigree possesses the essential qualities to suggest that whatever his progeny did as juveniles, they would have the scope to improve during their Classic three-year-old season.
Never further back than fourth in her eight starts to date, Triple Asset’s was purchased for $28,000 at the Tasmania Magic Millions yearling sales by trainer John Keys, and has now reaped connections close to $260,000 in Stakes earnings. With an ambitious Spring mapped out for this filly, connections are sure to once again be taken along for an exciting ride with their bargain-priced runner.
With a further seven winners so far this season in Australia as well as the Stakes-performer The Aftershock in New Zealand, 89% of Nadeem runners this season have earned prize money, an excellent advertisement for the quality that the G1-winning son of Redoute’s Choice passes onto his progeny.
When you take a look back at his racing career, there were early signs that as a potential sire, Nadeem held the right credentials. As a winner of the G3 Maribyrnong Plate in the early spring of his two-year-old season, Nadeem joins previous recent winners Bel Esprit, Testa Rossa and Canny Lad as winners of that race which have gone onto become successful sire commodities.
While previous winners of the G1 Blue Diamond Stakes Redoute’s Choice, Bel Esprit and Zeditave also went on to successful stallion careers.
When you take note of the season that Nadeem has had and compare that with what other highly successful stallions achieved with their first-crop of runners you realise what a stellar season he is having. His first runners have earned more prize money than the likes of High Chaparral, Bel Esprit, Street Cry, Danehill Dancer, Statue Of Liberty and Savabeel achieved, while he has more individual winners than Charge Forward, Starcraft, Lonhro, Bel Esprit, Red Ransom, Domesday and High Chaparral did with their initial crop of southern hemisphere runners.
Nadeem epitomises what breeders want in a stallion; an extremely well-bred G1-winning son of a stallion who has achieved great things. A pedigree that has the ability to produce early runners, but with the scope to improve as they mature and lastly, he stands at a fee that allows breeders to make a successful return on investment in the sales ring if they decide to sell the progeny as yearlings.
Overall, Nadeem ticks all the boxes breeders want in a stallion, and if the calibre of mare that he has covered in his first four season at stud is anything to go by, them the future is sure to be bright.
Nadeem will stand the forthcoming season at Darley Kelvinside at a fee of $22,000 (inc GST). If you require any further information on Nadeem, or any of the remainder of the 2011 Stallion Roster, please contact one of the Nomination Team members.
