ABOUT KERRIN McEVOY

Kerrin McEvoy has been appointed Darley Australia’s stable jockey.

He shot to prominence in 2000 when winning the Melbourne Cup aboard Brew, becoming the second youngest jockey to ever win Australia's premier race, and has enjoyed over 500 successes in his home country.

Kerrin McEvoy was given the ride on Godolphin's Beekeeper in the 2002 Melbourne Cup and impressed with a polished performance that saw the pair finish third.

Having made the move to Godolphin ahead of the 2004 season, his first British winner came on board the Saeed bin Suroor-trained Destination Dubai at Haydock Park on May 1. He enjoyed a good initial British Classic ride the following day when second in the 1,000 Guineas on Sundrop.

His first Epsom Derby ride in June of that year saw him finish runner-up again, this time on Rule Of Law, but he gained excellent compensation at Doncaster three months later as he guided the Godolphin colt to triumph in the world's oldest Classic, the St Leger.

Kerrin McEvoy's reputation has grown thanks to his successes at the highest level. He collected his first European Group One at Baden-Baden in Germany on Warrsan in 2004, a victory he repeated on the Clive Brittain-trained horse 12 months later.

With Frankie Dettori out of action during the 2005 Royal Ascot meeting at York, Kerrin McEvoy proved an able deputy, riding a well judged race in the Group One St James's Palace Stakes on the brilliant Shamardal, who blitzed his rivals from the front to score eased down inside the final furlong.

He won a French Group One aboard Dubawi in the Prix Jacques le Marois at Deauville and captured another Group One at York later that summer on Punctilious in the Yorkshire Oaks. His fifth Godolphin victory at the highest level was on Cherry Mix in the 2006 Rheinland-Pokal der Sparkasse KolnBonn in Germany.

In August 2007, Kerrin recorded his 100th success for Godolphin when Gongidas prevailed in a close finish at Thirsk, United Kingdom and in October Kerrin achieved his sixth Group One success for Godolphin when storming home to take the Racing Post Trophy onboard Ibn Khaldun at Doncaster.
