Exceed And Excel colt wins like a future star

Kinglike claims G2 Danehill Stakes at Flemington

Over the same course and distance his father won a G1 Newmarket Handicap, three-year-old Exceed And Excel colt Kinglike announced himself as a star of the future with a brilliant victory in the G2 Danehill Stakes, September 12.

Having just his third career start and his first up the famous Flemington straight, Kinglike settled behind the speed in the early stages. Given clear running by jockey Glen Boss at the 300m mark, Kinglike quickly strode to lead and went on to record a dominant win.

A homebred for David and Jenny Moodie, Kinglike is out of the unraced King's Best mare Royal Glow who is also the dam of Stakes winner Mirage (Hard Spun).

The sire of 102 Stakes winners including 10 G1 winners, Exceed And Excel is standing at Kelvinside at a fee of $110,000 inc. GST alongside his G2-winning son Sidestep who is standing at $11,000 inc. GST, while Helmet">Helmet ($33,000 inc. GST) and Kuroshio ($8,800 inc. GST) are standing at Northwood Park.
