Third Stakes success for son of Lonhro

Generalife wins G3 Star Kingdom Stakes at Rosehill

Generalife, a son of Lonhro, recorded his third Stakes success and his first at Group level with a thrilling win in the G3 Star Kingdom Stakes over 1200m at Rosehill, March 28.

The five-year-old settled midfield on the rails in the early stages and travelled well in to the straight with jockey James McDonald searching for galloping room. The run presented itself along the fence and Generalife dashed through and scored a narrow but very impressive victory.

Bred by Darley, Generalife is out of Stakes-placed Redoute’s Choice mare Albaicin, a half-sister to Listed winner Celebrity Girl whose first foal, a filly by Sepoy, sold for $850,000 at the Magic Millions on the Gold Coast in January.

The sire of 51 Stakes winners, Lonhro has sired six winners at the elite level including Denman and Benfica who stand alongside him at Kelvinside. He has 13 yearlings entered for next month’s Inglis Easter Yearling Sale.
