One of the star producers of the Australian Turf in recent years was put to sleep at Woodlands Stud last week. Rising 24 years of age, Pride Of Tahnee was suffering from arthritis and the sad and difficult decision needed to be made. She has been laid to rest beside another of Australia's breeding bluebloods in Lonhro and Niello's dam, Shadea (NZ).
An unraced daughter of Best Western and Tahnee's Pride, Pride of Tahnee has produced 10 winners from 10 to race to date, including three at Group 1 level, these being the outstanding George Main Stakes, Queen Elizabeth Stakes and Epsom Handicap winner Shogun Lodge, Oakleigh Plate winner Singing The Blues and George Ryder Stakes winner Referral.
Pride Of Tahnee's passing signals the end of an era and this much-loved old matron will be sadly missed by her owners Anne and Ian Millard and by all the staff at Woodlands Stud.
