Darley sires fill top four slots at breeze-up

Street Cry colt sells best of all at Goffs’ Ready To Run Sale

The European breeze-up sales season got underway at Kempton racecourse in the UK on Friday with six of the top ten lots being by Darley sires, including the sales-topper, a colt by Street Cry out of the Grade One-placed mare Inspired Kiss.

The American-bred two-year-old was bought for £55,000 ($91,233) by Swedish trainer Lennart Reuterskiold for Zawawi Racing with the aim of racing the colt in the Swedish Derby, which is run on dirt at Malmo.

Second best price of the day was given for a filly by last year’s leading second-crop sire Exceed And Excel, who sired more two-year-old winners that any other stallion in Europe in 2009. Bobby O’Ryan went to £50,000 ($82,939) for the daughter of Fingal Nights from Willie Browne’s Mocklershill draft.
