Bold debut for daughter of Brazen Beau

Two-year-old filly never headed in brilliant Inglis Banner victory at The Valley

Bold Bastille stamped herself as a two-year-old of immense talent when the daughter of Brazen Beau led all the way at Moonee Valley on Saturday, 28 October to win the Restricted Listed Inglis Banner.

Taken straight to the front by Mark Zahra, Bold Bastille travelled strongly and kicked away in the home straight to beat Hayasugi by three lengths in a slick 58.33 seconds, with Chosen Legend 1.5 lengths away in third place.

Trained by Ben, Will and JD Hayes at Flemington, Bold Bastille was bred by OE and DR Pope P/L in Victoria and offered by Blue Gum Farm at Euroa at the 2023 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale. With Arkansaw Kid (Harry Angel) winning in 2022, this training partnership has now clinched back-to-back wins in this race.

Lindsay Park Racing and Group 1 Bloodstock outlaid $270,000 for Bold Bastille, who now has a very valuable yearling full-brother.

Out of the Exceed And Excel (AUS) mare Chloe In Paris – winner of the Listed Bob Hoysted Handicap (1,000m) at Flemington in 2015 – Bold Bastille earned $302,000 for her big syndicate of owners.

The filly was the second two-year-old winner in seven days for Brazen Beau after Admitted (Admissible) saluted in a 2YO maiden at Bendigo last weekend.

Brazen Beau was a dual G1 winner of the Coolmore Stud Stakes (2014) and the 2015 Newmarket Handicap at Flemington during his brilliant 12-start racing career.

The Darley stallion has already sired 278 winners of 744 races, including 25 Stakes winners of 39 Black-Type races.

Brazen Beau stands at Northwood Park in Victoria for a service fee of $44,000, GST inclusive.
