Metastasio remains unbeaten

Street Cry filly becomes 59th Stakes winner for sire

Street Cry filly Metastasio staked her claim for the $1million G1 Blue Diamond Stakes in three weeks time with a dominant win in the Listed Chairman Stakes over 1100m at Caulfield on 2 February.

Having her second start following a debut win at Flemington, Metastasio began smartly to take up the lead in the early stages. After kicking clear rounding the home turn and quickly putting the race beyond doubt, the filly was eased up by jockey Kerrin McEvoy over the concluding stages but still held a two-and-three-quarter length margin on the line.

Bred by Darley, Metastasio is out of the Singspiel mare Libretto, a half-sister to G2 winners Wareed and Truly A Dream. Libretto has a yearling full-brother to Metastasio and foaled an Exceed And Excel filly last Spring.

The sire of 13 G1 winners including Zenyatta, Shocking, Whobegotyou and the Darley stallions Street Sense and Street Boss, Street Cry will be represented by three yearlings at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale in March and 15 yearlings at the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale in April including lot 30, a daughter of G1 winner Black Mamba and lot 37, a filly out of G1 winner Bramble Rose.
