G2 success for Commands 4yo at Rosehill

Commands' son Ambidexter wins the G2 Sebring Stakes

Commands’ four-year-old son Ambidexter produced a gritty performance to win the G2 Sebring Sprint (1400m) on September 15 at Rosehill Gardens.

Ambidexter won the Listed Ming Dynasty Handicap (1400m) as an early three-year-old where he defeated eventual G1 VRC Derby winner Sangster, before the consistent stallion broke through for his second Stakes success in the $200,000 event.

Settling just behind a moderate tempo, the Peter Snowden-trainee proved too brave for his opposition in the closing stages to score a thrilling win, taking his record to three wins and three placing’s from 12 starts.

The Darley homebred is a son of the G2-winning mare Dextrous, making Ambidexter a brother to the G1 winner and first-season sire Skilled. Dextrous has a two-year-old colt by Exceed And Excel named Sidestep, a yearling filly by Commands and is due to foal to Medaglia d'Oro in the coming weeks.

Skilled has started serving his first book of mares at Darley’s Northwood Park property at a service fee of $8800 (inc. GST), while Ambidexter’s sire Commands is based at Darley’s Kelvinside property, where he stands for $55,000 (inc. GST).
