Green Spaces races away with G3 Spring Stakes at Newcastle

Three-year-old son of Street Boss impressive in first Black-Type victory

Green Spaces signalled he could be an autumn classics contender with an easy win in the G3 Spring Stakes over 1,600m at Newcastle on Saturday, 15 November.

Having just his sixth start, and his third since joining the Bjorn Baker stable at Warwick Farm, Green Spaces dominated in the home straight to win by three lengths under jockey Rachel King.

King rode patiently early before Green Spaces sprinted down the centre to defeat Bird Whistle, with Long Legs a long neck away in third.

Baker’s assistant trainer, Luke Hilton, said the colt is still improving and could be a G1 ATC Derby competitor next year.

Out of the Australian mare Outdoor, also the dam of Godolphin’s dual G1 winner Trekking, Green Spaces has a yearling half-brother by Pinatubo and his dam was covered by Harry Angel last season.

This month, Street Boss sired his 11th G1 winner when Tentyris won the Coolmore Stud Stakes 1,200m at Flemington, followed a week later by Calamari Ring winning the 2YO Restricted Listed Inglis Banner 1,000m.

Worldwide, the Darley stallion has sired 1,050 winners of 3,165 races, including 85 individual Black-Type winners of 174 Stakes races.
