What a weekend for Teofilo

Havana Gold becomes his second G1 winner in 24 hours in the Prix Jean Prat

A day after Trading Leather landed the Irish Derby, Havana Gold became Teofilo's second G1 winner of the weekend when taking the Prix Jean Prat over a mile at Chantilly. Like Trading Leather, Havana Gold was a G3-winning juvenile and had run with credit in the early season Classics, with both being out of Danzig-line mares.

Havana Gold has now won half of his ten starts, with the only time that he has finished out of the money coming when unseating as a juvenile in the Listed Prix Fancois Boutin, with the race at his mercy.

Bred by Sir Eric Parker and sold as a yearling for 80,000 gns, Havana Gold is out of the multiple G3-winning sprinter Jessica's Dream (Desert Style).

Teofilo has now sired two G1-winning three-year-olds this season, joining fellow Darley stallion New Approach. Other notable runners for him include Dewhurst winner Parish Hall, fellow G1-winning juvenile Loch Garman and this seasons dual G2 winner Amira's PrinceTeofilo will stand this coming season at $22,000 inc. GST at Kelvinside, NSW.
