Reset mare replicates her sire

White Sage claims the Listed Festival Stakes and remains unbeaten in five starts

Reset was a dual G1 winner who was undefeated in five starts and his daughter White Sage has replicated his unbeaten winning streak on November 30, claiming the Listed Festival Stakes over 1500m at Rosehill to make it five wins from five starts.

In winning, White Sage became the 25th Stakes winner for Reset. The four-year-old mare will get her chance in the Autumn to further replicate the achievements of her sire by joining the G1 winner’s list, with trainer John O’Shea targeting the G1 Coolmore Classic for the pint-sized star.

Sent out favourite despite drawing the outside gate in the Festival Stakes, White Sage was taken straight to the lead by jockey James McDonald and never relinquished it, running out a two-length winner.

A homebred for the Esplin family, White Sage is out of former New Zealand Champion three-year-old sprinter Pay My Bail, a G2-winning daughter of Justice Prevails.

White Sage is grey in colour like Reset’s G1 Caulfield Cup winner Fawkner. In winning the Caulfield Cup last month, Fawkner joined Cox Plate heroine Pinker Pinker and dual Derby winner Rebel Raider as G1 winners by Reset.

Reset currently sits sixth on the general sires list and is standing at Northwood Park at a fee of $16,500 inc. GST.
