Street Cry colt makes impressive seasonal debut to claim another Group victory

One of the highlights of a truly Super Thursday for Sheikh Mohammed’s Godolphin team at Meydan was the victory of Street Cry colt Desert Party in the G3 Mahab Al Shimaal in the hands of Frankie Dettori.

Living up to his name, the four-year-old American-bred, who was making his first start for more than 300 days, was also successful in Dubai last year when winning the G3 UAE 2000 Guineas before finishing runner-up in the G2 UAE Derby. Prior to that he had already demonstrated his class as a juvenile in his native country when winning Saratoga’s G2 Sanford Stakes.

Bred by David Smith and Steven Sinatra, Desert Party is out of the Tabasco Cat mare Sage Cat and was a $2.1million purchase at Fasig-Tipton’s Selected Two-Year-Olds In Training Sale at Calder.
