Mares in foal to Darley sires top day two at Keeneland

Street Cry and Bernardini each demand US$4 million plus prices

Day two at Keeneland’s November Sale on November 7, 2012, saw strong prices once again with mares in foal to Bernardini and Street Cry leading the way.
 
The G1 winner and $1,987,498-earner Pure Clan, from the consignment of Hill ‘n’ Dale Sales Agency, agent, sold in foal to Champion Bernardini for US$4.5 million. Borges Torrealba Holdings, LLC, signed the ticket for the mare who was bred for the second time this year.
 
Coming in as the second highest-priced offering of the day was the multiple Graded winner and G1-placed Sadler’s Wells mare Changing Skies. Mandore Int. Agency went to US$4.2 million to secure the purchase of the mare in foal to Street Cry. Hill ‘n’ Dale Sales Agency, agent, was again the consignor.
 
Medaglia d'Oro, whose G1-winning daughter Plum Pretty topped the first session at US$4.2 million, saw continued demand for his in foal mares and weanlings highlighted by two that went beyond US$700,000. The G1-producing mare Heatherdoesntbluff, consigned by Denali Stud, agent, sold in foal to Medaglia d’Oro for US$800,000 to Hunter Valley Farm. Thirty lots later, a yearling full sister to Horse of the Year Rachel Alexandra, consigned by Gainesway Farm, lit up the tote board at $700,000 with Stonestreet Stables, LLC, as the new owner.

The trio of world class stallions Street Cry, Medaglia d'Oro and Bernardini are all standing the current southern hemisphere season at Darley Kelvinside, at a fee of $110,000, $77,000 and $55,000 (inc. GST) respectively.
