26 April turned out to be a good day for Darley first-season sire Reset when his son Likefatherlikeson landed the Listed Fernhill Handicap over 1600m.
Trained by Graeme Rogerson, the colt improved for the step up in trip to score decisively by one and a half lengths and now heads for the G1 Champagne Stakes.
This was the second Stakes winner for his sire within a fortnight, after Rebel Raider's recent victory in the G3 SAJC Sires’ Produce Stakes. Reset now boasts an impressive 25% stakes winners to runners ratio.
He has also started well with his northern hemisphere crops; with one winner from one runner to date.
Another Darley stallion on the mark was Grandera when his two-year-old filly Just Marika scored at Perth. Highly tried on her first two starts, she was fourth on debut in the Listed Gimcrack Stakes and she followed that by contesting the G2 Karrakatta Plate. She had no trouble making the most of the drop in class and will now look to step back up into Stakes company.
