Fencing cuts to the chase at Ascot

Son of Street Cry registers second Stakes win

Street Cry’s four-year-old son Fencing, a Listed winner at two, notched his second career Stakes victory today with an impressive turn of foot at Ascot in the Paradise Stakes.

One of 62 lifetime Stakes winners for his sire, Fencing was content to race along with the pack early on in the one-mile event, but made a strong move nearing the finish to pull away an easy winner.

Owned and bred by George Strawbridge, Fencing is out of the top-class French-trained mare Latice, winner of the French Oaks. Latice is a half-sister to the French Derby winner Lawman as well G3 winner/G1-placed Satri. Latice was bred back to Street Cry in 2013.

The sire of 13 G1 winners including Horse of the Year Zenyatta, Kentucky Derby winner Street Sense and record-breaking sprinter Street Boss, Street Cry will stand the coming breeding season at Kelvinside at a fee of $110,000 inc. GST.
