Ethereal Win For Set Square

Reset Filly Becomes Latest Stakes Winner For Her Sire

Having only her third career start and stepping up from a maiden victory at Ballarat to Stakes company at Caulfield, three-year-old Reset filly Set Square sprinted past her more favoured rivals to claim the Listed Ethereal Stakes over 2000m by an impressive two-length margin.

Jockey Nicholas Hall jumped the filly away well from the middle of the line and she went forward to settled in fifth just behind the leaders. When the home turn was reached, the Ciaron Maher-trained filly needed a gap and one presented itself as she sprinted clear at the 200m mark to record her maiden Stakes victory.

Connections will now need to make the decision if they pay the late entry fee to have their progressive filly take her place in the G1 VRC Oaks (2500m) on November 6.

The third winner, and first Stakes winner for the Zeditave mare Dynastar, Set Square was bred by Ken King’s Parador Park Thoroughbreds.

She becomes the second Stakes winner for her sire in the space of a week after the G1 Caulfield Stakes win of Fawkner last weekend, Reset is the sire of 26 Stakes winners highlighted by three individual G1 winners and is currently standing at Darley’s Northwood Park at a fee of $16,500 (inc. GST).
