Balk prevails in Fitz Dixon Stakes

Street Boss gelding captures second straight Stakes victory

Balk, a two-year-old gelded son of Street Boss, captured his second straight Stakes victory when winning the Fitz Dixon, Jr. Memorial Juvenile Stakes at Presque Isle Downs on October 6th.  He was coming off a strong win in the Mark McDermott Stakes at Presque Isle in his most recent start a month earlier.

In the 1300m contest, Balk broke alertly and went straight to the front, stretching out to a two-length lead in the stretch before holding off a late challenge from Twirling Tiger to win by a half-length.

Bred in Pennsylvania by his owner, The Elkstone Group LLC, Balk is out of the Dixie Union mare Countingoncarolyn.  His second dam, Kota, captured the Listed Anna M. Fisher Debutante and was second in the G2 Golden Rod Stakes.

Street Boss, whose Australian-bred Stakes winners include star filly Petits Filous as well as Thiamandi and The Quarterback, is the sire of American G1 winners Capo Bastone and Danza

Street Boss is standing at Northwood Park at a fee of $11,000 inc. GST.
