Sire of Kentucky Derby hopefuls Bolt d’Oro and Enticed has new Stakes winner

Medaglia d’Oro’s Gyllen lands the Listed Prix Francois Mathet in France

Medaglia d’Oro’s three-year-old son Gyllen improved his lifetime record to three wins from four starts with a solid performance in the Listed Prix Francois Mathet at Saint-Could racecourse in France on March 27. It was the sophomore’s second win in two starts in 2018.

Gyllen bided his time near the back of the pack in a trailing trio for the better part of the race but slowly began to move his way past the field over the final quarter mile. On a course rated as “heavy”, he was able to pull away inside the final furlong for a widening one and one-half length victory.

Gyllen was bred by her owner, Godolphin, in Kentucky, and was produced form the winning Mr. Prospector mare Miss Halory. Miss Halory is the dam of G3 winner Stormalory and is a half-sister to Graded Stakes winners Halory Hunter (G2W/G1-placed), Van Nistelrooy (G2W/G1-placed), Brushed Halory (G3W), Prory (G3W), and Key Lory (G3W).

Bolt d'Oro

Medaglia d’Oro is also the sire of Kentucky Derby hopefuls Bolt d’Oro and Enticed, winners of the G2 San Felipe and G3 Gotham Stakes, respectively, in addition to 2017 G1 Breeders’ Cup Turf winer Talismanic and one of the favorites in the G1 Dubai World Cup to be run on March 31st.  Talismanic was one of seven G1 winners for Medaglia d’Oro in 2017, the most of any sire last year. Only Mr. Prospector, Danzig and Storm Cat have ever sired as many.
