Medaglia d’Oro’s Talismanic much the best in Prix Turenne

Three-year-old secures second career Stakes victory in France

Talismanic, by Medaglia d’Orocaptured his first Stakes victory in the Prix de l’Avre in France in May then ran admirably in two G1 events with a short rest that followed. The time off proved most beneficial as the three-year-old colt powered away with authority to win the Listed Prix Turenne at Saint-Cloud on September 14th.

Away from the races exactly 60 days, Talismanic found himself fourth of sixth throughout most of the one-and-one-half-mile event. As the field reached mid-stretch, the colt exhibited a brilliant burst of speed and pulled away from the pack with emphasis. The final winning margin was five lengths.

Talismanic was bred in Great Britain by Darley and is the fifth winner from as many runners out of the mare Magic Mission. Winner of the G3 Royal Heroine Stakes, Magic Mission was also Graded-placed six other times in America and France, including a third in the G1 Matriarch Stakes.

Medaglia d'Oro has earned a spot among North American's leading sires once again in 2016 with undefeated, six-time G1 winner and Eclipse Champion Songbird proudly carrying her sire’s banner in style. And three-year-old son Astern proved himself the best of his age group in Australia on September 10th with a resounding win in the G1 Golden Rose. He has now sired a total of 15 G1 winners around the world.

At Keeneland’s September Sale, he lead all sires on day with a $1 million dollar offering. And his three sales toppers at Saratoga in the last six years are more than any other stallion in North America.

Medaglia d'Oro is standing the current breeding season at Kelvinside at a fee of $110,000 in. GST.
