Nadeem’s noteworthy Easter entries
As the sales season heads towards the pinnacle of the year - the Inglis Australian Easter yearling sale, buyers cannot fail to be impressed with the quality that Darley’s first-season sire Nadeem has on offer
A staggering 23 yearlings by Nadeem, near on 21% of his first-crop yearlings, were selected as part of the 614-strong catalogue. Not only does the G1-winning son of Redoute’s Choice have a larger representation than any other first-season sire, his representation in the select session of the sale is more than triple any other sire of his selling-crop.
A handful of Nadeem’s yearlings have already sold this year and it is extremely encouraging to see well-respected trainers and bloodstock agents such as Peter Moody, Damon Gabbedy’s Belmont Bloodstock agency, Blue Sky Thoroughbreds and Denise Martin’s Star Thoroughbreds all purchasing at least one of his offspring.
One factor that many are now taking note of is that while Nadeem was a G1-winning two-year-old, his pedigree suggested his best was still to come. Unfortunately injury curtailed his career, but many suspected Nadeem’s natural ability would have seen him feature over a middle-distance trip. Out of the G1 New Zealand Oaks winner Candide and a half-sister to the dam of Marju Snip - the winner of the G1 Australasian Oaks - Nadeem seems capable of providing both early two-year-old types as well as those that will improve into their classic year.
Earlier in the year, Twin Palms’ Phillip Esplin said, “I’ve two exceptionally exciting Nadeem yearlings out of the top Stakes winners True Jewels and So Gorgeous and each is the best the mare has produced.”
Entered as lots 218 and 172 respectively, both yearlings are sure attract plenty of attention from prospective purchasers. Lot 218, a filly with a double-cross of the Blue Diamond Stakes in her pedigree; as both her sire and dam won the time-honoured G1 two-year-old race, is sure to appeal to trainers looking to pick up some of the lucrative prize money on offer for juveniles when this filly hits the track.
Lot 172, a brown colt out of the Brief Truce mare So Gorgeous who is a dual G2 winner and already the dam of G2 Tulloch Stakes winner Tipungwuti and is from the family of G1 winners Bentley’s Biscuit, Euphoria and young sire Thorn Park.
By no means are these the only lots worth noting, as there are also yearlings out of Stakes winners Patterns, Kapchat and Commercial Choice entered in next month’s sale, plus half-siblings to Stakes horses Shadow Assassin, Star Of Luis, Typhoon Billie, Zaffaan, Stalingrad, Jiale and Make Me A Miracle, to mention but a few.
Yearlings out of half-sisters to the winners of the Golden Slipper, Rosehill Guineas and Doomben Cup, as well as close relations to G1 winners Boundless, Fly To The Stars, Rewaaya and Sudan, are also sure to see Nadeem’s yearlings in high demand.
