Street Sense finds a princess

Street Sense’s daughter Sky Princess becomes her sires first winner down under

Two-year-old Street Sense filly Sky Princess saluted at her first her start at the races, taking out the Westspeed Plate at Ascot over 1000m on 7 March, defeating Fine Cooper and Shamardal filly Novadarl.

The filly, who had also won her only trial, became the first winner for her sire after travelling wide throughout the run and hanging on for a very determined victory. Street Sense, the best son of Street Cry, was himself a G1 winner at two and showed similar determination throughout his stellar racing career.

Sky Princess was bred by Mr. R Harvey and is out of the Palace Music mare Versailles Pike, who also has a yearling colt by Teofilo that was recently sold at the Magic Millions yearling sale on the Gold Coast. The filly joins others from Street Sense’s first southern hemisphere crop to the track which have shown early ability, including placegetters Clever Boy, Mottled and She’s Streetsahead.

Street Sense is nearing the top of the list of North America’s leading second-crop sires and has a strong Kentucky Derby hopeful in the G3-winning Castaway. Castaway is the second Graded winner for Street Sense, joining G3 winner Motor City, in addition to the G1-placed Miss Netta.

Street Sense has 12 yearlings catalogued for the forthcoming Inglis Easter yearling sale, including colts out of G1 winner Old Money and the G3-winning Lucky Diva. The sales commence on April 10.
