Star Of Giselle too good first up

Reset mare wins her third Stakes victory, taking out the G3 Mannerism Stakes

After coming into her own during the Spring carnival where she won three in succession, including two at Stakes level, five-year-old Reset mare Star Of Giselle contested the G3 Mannerism Stakes over 1400m first up at Caulfield on 23 February and came out triumphant.

Settling in third position on the rails behind the leader Family Crest, a degree of speed was injected into the race just before the home turn where jockey Kerrin McEvoy, fresh from G1 success in the previous race, steered the mare off the leader’s heels to make his run. Handicapped with 58kgs, she took a bit of time to reel in the leader, getting up to nail Family Crest on the line to record a narrow victory.

After the race, co-trainer Matthew Ellerton indicated that there is a Stakes race in two weeks over a 1600m for the mare, followed by another three weeks after that.

Bred and raced by her breeders, Contract Racing Pty Ltd, Mr N Psaltis & Mrs G Psaltis, Star Of Giselle is out of the Stakes-winning Danehill mare Princesa who has a Street Cry two-year-old filly, a yearling colt by Domesday and was covered by Medaglia d'Oro in the latest breeding season.

As the sire of 21 Stakes winners highlighted by dual G1 Derby winner Rebel Raider and G1 WS Cox Plate heroine Pinker Pinker, Reset will be represented by 10 yearlings at the Inglis Premier yearling sale, and will be represented by lot 149 at the Inglis Easter yearling sale, a brown colt out of the Danehill Dancer mare Kapala, who is a half-sister to Pinker Pinker, making the colt a three-quarter brother to the Cox Plate winner.
